History

UNIPET is a wholly owned locally operated company engaged in the marketing and wholesaling of liquid petroleum fuels. The company was established in 1997 and began trading of transportation fuels in 2000. Unipet has a total of 25 service stations located throughout the country.

Unipet also engages in the transportation of bulk fuel to large commercial customers, through Unipet Transport Division, which is a wholly owned Unipet subsidiary, this division has been a transporter of fuel for over 40 years, with a proud tradition of providing prompt and reliable delivery service to all it’s customers throughout Trinidad.

For 25 years the gas station business had been conducted exclusively by the State, before that it had been run by foreign firms. In 1996 the Government appointed Petroleum Retail committee recommended a phase of de-monopolization of industry.
